This is an introductory workshop of the basic fly fishing equipment and techniques for the novice who is looking to learn this sport. It is being offered by the Central Vermont Trout Unlimited Chapter. The class is limited in number to ensure quality instruction. The fee includes a one-year membership to Trout Unlimited. Classes will include; introduction to fly fishing and the equipment involved, stream biology, fly-casting instruction and practice, fly selection and knot tying. All equipment will be provided.

PGA Golf Professional, Barry Churchill will show you all aspects of the game, allowing you to feel comfortable while playing. This class is designed for the beginner and advanced beginner. After learning the grip, aiming, and stance, you will learn the fundamentals of getting the ball airborne and controlling direction. The principals of pitching, chipping, and putting will be covered as well as basic rules and etiquette. The program is adult group golf instruction. Equipment is available at no extra charge. Players purchase their own range balls.

Are you looking to meet new friends, get out on the lake and kayak, or just learn about kayaking? The Kayak Club is for paddlers who enjoy kayaking, fresh air, a bit of exercise, and good camaraderie. Members will initially be required to participate in a kayak clinic. Kayaks may be reserved by members of the club at Red Rocks Beach throughout the summer months, mid-June through mid-August. A specific schedule of dates & times, mainly on weekday evenings and weekends will be available for reservations. There will be a membership fee of $35 charged which will include a punch pass for the season. An organizational meeting is scheduled for June 4th at 6:00pm at the Municipal Office Building. If you are interested, pre-registration is required by calling the Recreation Office at 846-4108.
Paddling Ecology
Get out on Lake Champlain and explore the natural history and ecosystems of this sixth “Great Lake”. We will use recreational kayaks to learn first hand about the ecology, geology, and wonderful diversity of plants and animals. The coves, shorelines, and wetlands of Shelburne Bay and the LaPlatte River will be our destination on this adventure. Basic paddling experience is required. Kayaks and transportation are provided. Come prepared to get your feet wet!

Nature Hike – Mount Mansfield
Join us for this trek with an experienced naturalist to the top of Vermont. Enjoy the amazing views from the summit ridge, and learn about its diversity of plants, animals, and insects. Discover many of the arctic-alpine plants that survive on the summit, some of which are relics from the last Ice Age. This is a moderately strenuous 7 mile round trip on the Sunset Ridge Trail. Get out and enjoy some of the Vermont summer and experience one of the finest mountain walks in all of New England. Transportation is provided. Great photo opportunities, bring a camera.
